BRIEF HISTORY OF CHRIST CHURCH PARISH IREFI ORAIFITE.

The Holy Spirit laid it in the heart of His son, Sir Engr Dr. Emeka Obiora Okwuosa about the need to have an Anglican Church in Umueshi. A piece of land that is jointly owned by Umuokpelaeshi comprising of Umume, Umunzelu, and Umunnamora kindred was donated to Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation for the purpose of building an Anglican in Umueshi.

In December 31st 2018, the turning of the sword was done by Retired Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, The Most Rev. Prof. Godwin I.N Okpala and thereafter, the building of the ultra-modern church building with church Hall and Vicarage commenced.

The Dedication was done by the Most Rev Henry Ndukuba, Archbishop Metropolitan, Primate of All Nigeria and Assisted by the Rt. Rev Ndubuisi Obi, Bishop Of Nnewi Diocese on 23rd August 2023.

The first service was held on 28th August 2023, presided over by the pioneer priest, The Rev Chukwudum Nzubechukwu. The resolution for parish status was passed by the P.C.C on 29th January 2024 and an application was made to Oraifite East Archdeaconry board on 9th February 2024 and was approved by the Archdeaconry board on 17th February 2024.
Application for parish status was made by The Archdeaconry board to the Diocesan Board on 22nd February 2024 and was approved at the Diocesan Board meeting held on 23rd March 2024.

The Parish Inauguration and the induction of her pioneer vicar , The Rev’d Chukwudum Nzubechukwu was done on 25th August 2024.
The church is marching on, and the gate of Hell will never prevail against it
