HISTORY OF VICTORY CHURCH, EBE UKPOR
What is today known as Victory Anglican Church, Ebe-Ukpor started as an out-station of St. John’s Church in the year 1966. Some members of the church considered it appropriate to establish a place of worship at Ebe to cushion the stress of having to walk a long distance to St. John’s Church. The proponents of this great vision were Mr. Christopher Akaegbobi, Mr. Samuel Asomugha, Mr. Francis Uzoukwu, Mr. Felix Elendu and Mr Sydney Odunukwe (all late). The meeting started at Late Mr. Gilbert Achukwu’s compound every Sunday evening. Later it was moved to the late Ezeana Nnadibuagha Ufondu’s compound; a pagan who offered his Obi for use.
In 1967, as a result of the outbreak of the Nigerian-Biafran civil war, which lasted for three years, the meeting was interrupted and the gathering place, obi Ufondu, was used for the distribution of relief materials. At the end of the war in 1970, these brave pioneers regrouped and started negotiating for a piece of land to build a “permanent” place of worship. Their efforts yielded fruit in 1975 when Mr. David Onwughalu donated a piece of land where a temporal church building was erected. It was then called St. John’s Extension. It was used as a kindergarten (nta-akara) and once every month the entire Parish worships there. Worship materials were housed by the late Mr. Felix Elendu and later to the late Mr. Christopher Akaegbobi’s house. Unfortunately, the growth of the church was not as rapid as expected and at some time the monthly services became irregular.
However, in 2007, Revd. Canon Prosper Amah (now Bishop), who was the Vicar of the parish, took a bold step not only to revive the visions of the founding fathers, but sent Evangelist Chicherem Azubuike (now Revd) as the first church worker thus reviving the monthly services (precisely every uka nkwo). He was replaced in 2008 by Evang. Udochukwu Nwogu who did the first renovation work on the dilapidating church building. That same year, the Bishop, the Rt. Revd. G. I. N. Okpala named the church, Victory Anglican Church, Ukpor. Other church workers who had worked here included:

1.Evang. Henry Igbani -2009 (now Revd)
2.Evang. Ikenna Alagwu – 2010 (now Revd)
3.Revd. Clifford Chukwukamma – 2015 (now Revd. Canon)
4.Evang. Chukwuma Ikerionwu – Lay Assistant

Evang. Ikenna Alagwu became the first resident Church Teacher of the Church and Mr. Boniface Umemneku graciously gave his house for a temporal accommodation. Through the doggedness of Evang. Ikenna, in 2014, the present site was purchased and excavation of the foundation of a new church building was done. However, shortly after, he was transferred to St. Luke’s Church Oraifite. Revd. Clifford Chukwukamma replaced him in 2015 as the first resident clergyman. He exerted his visionary acumen on the foundation already laid by men before him. He quickly and miraculously commenced the building of a four bedroom parsonage on 1st April, 2015. The parsonage was dedicated on 24th October, 2015. This accomplished, he turned his attention to the continuation of the present church building started by his predecessor. The church was dedicated by the Rt. Revd. Ndubuisi Obi on 12th January, 2020.
In 2016, the children of the late Sir Michael Okoli drilled a borehole in memory of their father. On the 29th day of May, 2016, the foundation of a health clinic was laid within the premises of the church. The Diocesan Women Ministry, under the leadership of Mrs. Eugenia Okpala (Nnebuife) equipped the clinic and on the 24th day of December 2017, the Bishop, Most Revd. Prof. G.I.N. Okpala dedicated it.
The first Sunday service at the permanent site was on the 17th December, 2017 under the deck of the gallery until the roofing of the church in 2018. On 12th January 2020, the Rt. Revd. Ndubuisi Obi, Bishop of the Diocese of Nnewi dedicated the church building. In the year 2021, at the end of the year Diocesan board meeting, Victory Church, Ebe-Ukpor was upgraded to a Parish status by the Diocesan. Consequent upon the transfer of the Revd. Canon Clifford Chukwukamma, Revd. Paul Okoye succeeded him as the first Vicar of the Church and is being assisted by Evang. Casmir Ekezie. In 2022, the Diocesan Church Planting Committee planted a Church at Umudara Ebe-Ukpor out of Victory Church and is known as Victory Church Extension with Evang. Chinedu Ucheatu as the Missioner.
Victory Church, Ebe-Ukpor has so far produced five indigenous clergymen, one Church Teacher and one commissioned Lay Reader viz:
